Physical Security
Any good counter measure relies on good physical security.
THIS CAN BE GREATLY REDUCED BY FOLLOWING THE BELOW
A good access control point
Doors to sensitive rooms must be kept locked as often as possible, particularly outside your normal office working hours.
A quality alarm system with remote alerting should be installed.
Cleaners and contractors should only be allowed supervised access to sensitive areas, especially where important documents are held.
Key issue should also have restricted access and all keys taken out should be logged and recorded.
Careful consideration should be given to installation of a good overt/covert system to record all activity in the sensitive and surrounding areas.
Remember:
Alarms and locks provide noise, time and a visual deterrent. They are not a guarantee to someone who wishes to gain entry into your premises.
The problem is that so many people find it ‘inconvenient ‘ to lock doors, or leave a window open especially in the hot weather…………….. These people do so at there own peril and possibly a great risk to there company.
