Who Uses Bugging Devices?
RF Bugs: Who Uses Them And Why
Technical Surveillance Counter Measures (T.S.C.M) involves the detailed physical and technical inspection of the working environment, or home, to locate and neutralise covert surveillance devices. At 24/7 Close Protection Ltd we aim to prevent, as well as detecting, the unauthorised and illegal interception and subsequent disclosure of any sensitive information. Although we aim to find any hidden audio/video and other types of counter espionage devices, we are aware that these types of equipment are changing along with today’s complicated technological society.
Radio frequency (RF) Bugs
The Radio frequency (RF) Bugs are the most popular and easiest way to bug an office or any other room.
RF Bugs are:
CHEAP
EASY TO INSTALL
CAN BE QUICK TO INSTALL
EASY TO OPERATE
EASY TO RCORD
EASY TO CONCEAL
AND MOST OF ALL ARE DEADLY EFFECTIVE
RF Bugs work by transmitting the audio within a room away to a distant Listening Post (LP) where it can be recorded for later use, using a radio carrier frequency. Most devices work over a relatively short distance; up to a distance of approx 500 metres. Specialist high power devices will work over a greater distance of about 1000 metres. There are even some devices that can be listened to from anywhere in the world, by using a system similar to the way a mobile phone works.
RF Bugs operate on batteries or can even be run on your own power supply, giving them unlimited power without the need to keep changing there batteries. Therefore reducing the risk of being seen doing this, so once it has been installed it will carry on transmitting the audio it is capturing.
COMPETITORS
DISGRUNTED EMPLOYEES
BUSINESS PARTNERS
PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR COMPANIES
CLEANERS
CONTRACTORS
SECURITY GUARDS
Just about anyone who has access, or can gain access to your premises can place a simple RF Bug which can be planted in seconds.
Cleaners, contractors, employees and even security guards have all been the targets by unscrupulous individuals to plant Bugging Devices on there behalf. In most cases it’s because they are happy to make some quick and generous cash. Without paying TAX. For just plugging in a phone or mains adaptor straight into a wall socket. Just imagine the damage that a simple Bugging Device could cause if it was placed in the right place.
Do you have a cordless Keyboard? One of these will transmit all of your keystrokes including (what you thought was safe) your passwords at a frequency of about 27 Mhz at a level of -50 dbm @ 1 metre. It would be possible to receive these signals from over 100 metres away, without you even knowing.
An RF Bug is very simple, quick and easy to install. If someone knows how to plug a plug into a socket they can plant a Bug, it’s that simple. If it’s plugged into an electrical socket there will be no batteries to run out.
